Thoughtful and Intimate Horseshoe Bend Elopement
This Lake Powell and Horseshoe Bend elopement had everything from hilarious mishaps to actual tears of joy. Ashley and Riley wanted a celebration that was adventurous and private, and we (Michaela and Caroline from Promise Mountain!) loved designing an epic Horseshoe Bend elopement for them.
In the morning, Ashley gifted Riley with a pack of socks and a customized note saying "in case you get cold feet", which we loved. She brought several different family brooches to pin on her bouquet to honor loved ones, which was such a thoughtful touch!
We headed out to the private ceremony spot overlooking this jaw-dropping landscape. The air was so peaceful for miles in every direction - it was easy for Ashley and Riley to imagine that they were the only people in the world. As they said their private vows, Riley choked up and got super emotional, which led to such a tender moment with the two of them - a moment that never would’ve happened in a traditional wedding!
Moments of Wonder and Hilarity and Everything In Between
After the ceremony, the happy couple clinked glasses and enjoyed a celebratory charcuterie spread, and then we headed to Horseshoe Bend to soak in the scenery as the moon rose. At one point, one of Ashley's earrings broke. Promise Mountain’s own Michaela ran over to a local store, came back with a glue gun and another pair of earrings to help fix the situation, and she came to the rescue and fixed the earring malfunction!
Another mildly hilarious elopement moment was when we realized that we needed another witness for the marriage license, so we stopped into a local gas station and met a man named "Rock". He was kind enough to be the second witness! It’s the little random and unforgettable details like this that make adventures like this Horseshoe Bend elopement so much fun.
